SEMF turns 25 - but Naples celebrates a full 2,500 years! Step into the city’s refined and colourful musical world of the 17th and 18th centuries, where the genre commedeja pe’ museca brought together virtuosic singing, theatre and improvisation. With a subtle balance of elegance and drama, irony and melancholy, a lost performing art is revived by the troubadour and actor Pino De Vittorio - one of today’s foremost interpreters of this rich musical tradition.
For nearly 30 years, Cappella Neapolitana, under the direction of Antonio Florio, has played a central role in rediscovering the great repertoire of the South Italian Baroque. Welcome to an exquisite experience featuring music by, among others, Leonardo Vinci, Francesco Mancini and Giovanni Paisiello.
