Swedish Television's music programme prepares you for the festival!

Dive deep into Swedish music history!

Have you missed SVT’s programme series by Ditte Hammar? If so, it’s time to watch it before the XXIII Stockholm Early Music Festival 2024 takes place 4-9 June.

Through ten short episodes, we “(…) get acquainted with harp-playing Viking chieftains, gold-plated medieval notes and begging singing students. But also music spies and forbidden instruments, as well as rhythmic work songs and the origin of the Swedish snaps song”. Peter Pontvik, Artistic Director of Early Music Sweden, shared his dedication to Sweden’s musical treasures in episode #6: “The most interesting thing is that this is Sweden’s first polyphonic vocal work that has a known author.”, says Peter.
