Vassilis Bolonassos, journalist and radio personality, Chairman of the Board of EARLY MUSIC SWEDEN.
In memoriam Vassilis Bolonassos
It is with great sadness that we at EARLY MUSIC SWEDEN express our condolences on the passing of our chairman. Journalist and radio personality Vassilis Bolonassos passed away on March 27, after a period of illness. Vassilis’ personality, knowledge, and dedication are deeply missed within our organization, and his death leaves a significant void in Sweden’s early music community.
Vassilis was a devoted and passionate disseminator of early music knowledge through countless radio programs, workshops, and educational efforts. His cheerful affection for baroque composers like Antonio Vivaldi or J.S. Bach leaves warm memories with the large audience who followed Vassilis’ well known and appreciated SR program ‘Always on a Sunday’ for decades. The program then continued to live on for several years at the Stockholm Early Music Festival as a live radio show. Vassilis also introduced many of SEMF’s evening concerts at the German Church, and he managed to record several podcasts that are available online.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Vassilis’ family, friends, and colleagues. His kind spirit lives on with us and in the music we love.
